Pinetex: Pairs well with an umbrella in your drink… and now the bag on your shoulder Pineapple leather, or Pinetex, was created by Dr. Carmen Hijosa while conducting research on natural fibers in the Philippines. She discovered an opportunity to utilize the long fibers in pineapple leaves that weren’t being used after harvest, to make a non-woven sustainable fabric that gives vegan leather a good name.
