Instagram Reels and Tik Tok are the most popular forms of social media right now. You may have been watching from the sidelines, unsure how to use Instagram Reels for your brand's social media, but the reality is Reels are the best way to grow your engagement on Instagram right now and it's recommended to post them at least twice a week. But Reels can be tricky when you first begin, so here are some ideas for using Instagram Reels for business. Research Reels Start researching Reels in the Explore Reels tab and save to a Reels folder the ones you like that you feel fit your brand. Reels allow your customers to get an inside look into your brand. Showing the personality behind the brand gives your followers a more personal connection to the brand. Is your branding funny? Maybe do some viral dances. Is your brand tackling sustainability? Maybe do some educational Reels on how you help the planet. Practice a few times before you post your first reel. Get comfortable with the editing and process so you can test out what feels best for you. Then start having fun. Get Creative All content starts with great brainstorming. Just like we teach in our Marketing Made Easy course, all your content should focus on solving your customer's problems and fall within your brand identity, strategy, and goals. So kickoff your creative brainstorm session by listing a couple goals that aren't direct sales (i.e. more engagement, new email signups) and areas where you can solve your customer's problems in those channels. Educate your customer: Educational content will make your customer more informed about your brand. Informed customers will turn into return customers. Maybe it's sustainability education or how your product is made and why that is important. Inspire your customer: How are you helping them live their lives better or achieve the life they dream of? Show off your product in a fun way and make your customer picture themselves with the product. Reels allow you to show your product in action from all angles which is not possible with a normal product shot. Fun Reel ideas @wknd_wyfr account Plan it Out Content creation days are integral to protecting your time as a brand owner. You wear too many hats and creating content takes TIME. When you plan out all content and shoot it in one day you can get through more faster - this is called batch working. Create an excel sheet with your Topic, Talking points to write on the Reel, Caption copy, and the outfits you'll wear/people involved/etc. Have everything laid out and ready and batch 10-30 Instagram Reels at a time. As you get the hang of it you can do more, but start small and see how much time batch creation saves you. Stay On Brand As you save Reels for inspiration also note the format of the text and if they use a branded cover photo. Pick one set font, colorway, and cover photo you use for every Reel so your feed remains professional but fits your style. For branded covers, some accounts use a titled graphic, while others use one of their beautiful images as the cover. The benefit to using one of your photos, is you can post more Reels while still having your imagery dominant in your feed. The benefit to titled graphics is someone scrolling your feed can more quickly find the Reels most interesting to them. *But also, if you have less original images of your products, this gives you more to post on your feed without overusing your product imagery. Don't Overthink it Reels like much of social media is here today gone in an hour. So don't over plan or put too much pressure on yourself to get it perfect. People want authenticity more than curation. You will have ideas that go gang busters and ideas that bomb. In fact, some of our best Reels have been our least planned ones. True story. Reels can be tricky at first but they are a great viral marketing tool for your brand. Want to learn more about marketing and how to grow your brand in an ethical and sustainable way?
