Growing a brand takes a lot of work and you wear a million hats. With so many time sensitive deadlines, it can feel overwhelming to slow down and train new team members so you can delegate some things off your plate. However, by not training your team members properly you actually miss out on optimizing their role to its fullest potential, or worse, they could be doing tasks that are counter productive to your growth goals and actually set you back. Here's 5 Tips to train new team members.
1 | Create Clear Job Responsibilities
An obvious but important step. Creating clear job responsibilities will help you attract the right applicants, delegate better, and keep both of you accountable to what areas of growth you should be seeing as a result.
2 | Create a Goal Sheet for Each Position
Now that you know the areas of responsibility this team member is absorbing, you want to be able to track progress. By tracking progress you can assess what strategies work for hacking growth and which do not so you can quickly abandon time sucks and double down on what works. For social media or marketing positions, key KPI's will be engagement rates on social, lead generator downloads, open and click rates on emails, and website traffic.
3 | Schedule Quarterly Goal Check ins
With clear responsibilities and goals articulated you want to be also provide your team with regular check ins so they know where they stand with you and how they're performing in their role. This gives them a clearer path to run in and succeed or alternatively a feelings-free outline of why it's not working out if you must part ways. Of course the goal is that, this equips your team members to be superstars for your brand!
