By Lisa Liberatore, Administrative & Customer Service Director, 31 Bits Editor's note: Our industry is at a turning point in standards and practices. Some days it may even feel like a solid identity crisis. How do we continue to create products while being sustainable? Or compete in a discount-driven market while remaining ethical? The growing workforce is full of ambition to create change in fashion but are finding few positions available to do so. Frustrated by the lack of opportunity they either give up and go to the non-profit sector and we lose the passionate people we need to create this change, or start their own brand, further splintering an already noisy market. But a groundswell of impact-driven companies are gaining traction. Here's one woman's story of discovering this world and navigating her career and calling towards it, full speed ahead.
We love a good fashion event. Mainly because the opportunity to connect in person with other fashion professionals interested in building a better industry for people and planet doesn't happen all the time. But also, because it's a great way to learn new possibilities for reaching these goals, and find great new brands to support who are employing people and accounting for the planet in the way they should. Here's what you can tap into in the month of November for ethical fashion events.
Do you love fashion? We are absolutely obsessed with it. Why? Because fashion is an exquisite wearable art that inspires the masses. Because it has the ability to hold a mirror up to society and influence cultural norms. Want to help this world change? We are looking for our next set of interns! Here's what you can expect:

If you find yourself in this place, we implore you not to jump ship just yet. Here's some ideas for transitioning your career to sustainable fashion.
By Jessica Kelly, Founder & CEO, THR3EFOLD One of my favorite mantras is the African proverb, "If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together." I love the beautiful truth in this statement. When you first start learning about ethical fashion and sustainable fashion it's very easy to be overwhelmed. To get our industry to a place that is collectively championing for people and planet while turning a profit can feel impossible, but the beauty is it will take a village, an industry to be exact, and that's what slowly is happening. THR3EFOLD is no different, and I am so grateful for my team who helps strategize, consult, and push this goal forward. Meet my team.
