When you start a fashion brand, you feel pulled in a million directions and it's easy to get "busy" rather than effective with your daily efforts to grow your business. To make it easier for you, we've narrowed down the key areas that drive your business growth so you can block out chunks of your day for the areas that will drive the best results for your business. 1 | Press
Oh the elusive press. This can be one of the most frustrating parts of building your business. Press is super helpful because it spreads the word about your brand to new customers and business opportunities, but securing it can feel impossible. Press often requires a long lead time. You are building relationships rather than conducting a transaction so it's easy to feel like you are wasting time or money when you don't see direct correlation in your sales as a result. But, once you do secure press it builds your brand credibility, brand awareness, and ultimately (later) sales. It's well worth the effort to be building it now. 2 | Wholesale Accounts Most brands today start with a D2C (direct to consumer) model online. This is best since you can set up a website quickly and cheaply with little product or risk. However, it takes a long time to build awareness and web traffic as a new brand and a great way to usurp this process is the build your wholesale retail accounts. You are selling your goods at a lower profit margin, however by selling wholesale to retailers you sit your brand in a store with existing traffic and sales without all the capital it takes to set up brick and mortar retail. 3 | Crowdfunding For fashion brands specifically, you often run into the problems with minimum order quantities when searching for a new factory, or more likely the lack thereof when it comes to low minimum factories. By crowdfunding you can generate pre-sales in order to collect the capital (with sales) you need to meet your first production run. Not only that, but by crowdfunding you generate momentum in your brand awareness which serves you later as you continue to grow your business. If it's not, than you've lost a potential customer. It's better to do a few platforms great i.e. website, Instagram, and Facebook, than all of them poorly. How do you blend a variety of images in your feed while maintaining your brand aesthetic? What type of graphic design do you use across all visuals? Setting a clear brand guide will make this easier to create new content and over time, as you practice, you'll get more comfortable with what is "on brand" for you. 5 | Marketing Hand in hand with your branding, is your marketing. How you communicate to your customers is key to building their awareness and trust in you. Today's world is noisier than ever which is why is imperative to cut through that noise by speaking clearly and specifically to your target customer rather than a big group. Clarify your message or risk never capturing your customer. Coming Soon THR3EFOLD actually has exciting resources launching NEXT WEEK that provide solutions to all 5 of these categories.
