3 ways THR3EFOLD Factories Uplift Their Communities and Inspire Us

One of the most important aspects of sustainable and ethical fashion is the supply chain.  Ethical Factories have certifications that ensure that they are using ethical practices, but we often find these factories go above and beyond to support people. THR3EFOLD has worked hard to gather the best community of factories who are doing great things to uplift their community through the production work you provide, here are a few stories to inspire your week.
Improving the Lives of Local Businesses
As one of our factories in Guatemala needed to expand they began looking for larger factory spaces that could fit their growing team. In a small town word gets around, and their landlord learned of their search. He came to them eagerly with an opportunity. He owned the land next door to their existing rented space and offered to build a custom building for them to keep them as tenants! They were able to expand with a building just for them in the same location so their workers commute's and lives weren't disrupted, all while allowing the land owner to expand his commercial real estate offering. Win win!

Increasing Skill in Marginalized Communities
One factory in India has a sewing training program located in the slum communities surrounding their facility. This allows them to offer free sewing training to individuals and sustainable employment for anyone who progresses in talent and interested in work. By increasing access to skilled labor, they are enabling pathways for work and the support of families in their community.

Growing Sustainable Employment = Education for Children
One of our factory partners in Nepal is on a mission to grow so they can increase the reliable work in their country where 96% of workers are not formerly employed and 44% of the population is vulnerable to slavery. Since 2018 they've added 13 new full time employees growing to a team of 75 garment workers. They also pour back into education for children in their community and have provided scholarships to 56 children.

At THR3EFOLD we believe an ethical supply chain is the answer to fashion's massive exploitation of people around the world. Our factories are certified and use ethical and sustainable practices that will in turn support uplifting your brand standards too.
