It’s the final countdown. We are in the last chunk of summer which means you need to make each day count, so we’ve concocted a fun quiz to see how you’re doing as a conscious consumer this summer.
1 | What’s Your Summer Reading?
Eligible: 0 Points
Oh man, but it’s such a fun beach read! We read this book too and it was awesome, so we won’t hate on your Jane Austen loving parade. 1 Bonus Point if you read on eBook or borrowed it from a friend. Trust. We got you.
Ethical Fashion Book: 3 Points
Congrats, you are taking the time to educate yourself and be inspired!
1 Bonus Point for each one on this list or this list that you read
2 | Summer Binge Watching?
Netflix & Prime: 1 Point
We get it, we all binge through their content with the best of them, the one great thing we love about these video companies is their piece in the share economy. Digital and sustainable
Ethical Fashion Documentary: 3 Points
Again, you’re crushing it. Going behind the scenes and seeing for yourself the stories of the garment workers and how this industry is made. Bravo. 1 Bonus Point for each one on this list you watched.
3 | Summer Travel?
Hotel: 0 Points
Not really known to be the most environmentally-friendly option. The hotel industry has a ton of water waste and poorly made products, among other things. Is it the end of the world? No, don’t beat yourself up, however 3 Bonus Points if you stayed at an eco-friendly hotel (there aren’t many and they’re doing a lot).
AirBnB: 2 Points
Our favorite because they’re local and sustainable. We love anything that brings an increased awareness to the local culture & community where you are visiting, and since you’re using an existing space, personally cared for by the owner, you’re acting local and small. Great choice!
Eco-Tourism: 3 Points
We see a blog post on this in our future. A new trend popping up in the travel industry is the environmentally and socially impact trips. Volunteerism in between your relaxing and exploring. You are a world changer and we love your heart.
4 | Summer Shopping?
Forever 21 Spree: Deduct 3 points
They are literally the worst. Unlike H&M who’s actually trying to improve, Forever 21 seems hellbent on taking advantage of their staff and polluting the planet, they are the only brand on our Absolutely Never list.
Thrift Stores: 2 Points
This is a great, budget friendly, way to keep your shopping in a place your wallet can handle. Plus, with so many clothes out in the market, you are helping cut back on some of that waste.
Capsule Pieces or Ethical Brands: 3 Points
Buying on purpose, be it one key bathing suit or the perfect summer dress to wear to the ground and love completely, you’re making a shift in what you buy and how often you buy and that makes all the difference.
5 | Reusable Bag Count
Rate yourself on a scale. 0 being, ‘ew what are reuseable bags? Bring on the plastic! And 5, I carry reuseable bags anywhere I go and use them 100% of them time or I don’t shop at all. Give yourself that number of points.
